IFA Granted NGO Status by Government of Ethiopia PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 31 August 2010

The Government of Ethiopia's Charities and Societies Agency has granted "Non-Governmental Status" (NGO) to the International Fund for Africa. NGO status confers privileges including tax exemptions, certain exemptions from customs duties and the VAT (value-added tax) and the legal rights to enter into contractual agreements as an organization. The change in status also enables International Fund for Africa to more effectively partner with other NGOs, governmental agencies, corporations and institutions. "NGO status further legitimizes our important work here in Ethiopia. It's critical to accomplishing our goals" stated Anteneh Roba, MD, IFA's President and Co-Founder. The NGO denomination enables International Fund for Africa to better utilize resources for projects currently underway in Ethiopia.
