First day of the 2nd West African Vegetarian Congress Conference held in Accra,Ghana Oct/30/2009 kicked off with a parade. |
|
The conference was kicked off with a parade. The vegan participants from Togo, Benin, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, USA, Canada, Nigeria and Cameroon, carrying placards and signs extolling the virtue of plant based diet walked through the main center of Accra, Ghana to the Ministries of Health and Agriculture. We met representatives of the ministries with whom we discussed for awhile and of we went to a vegetarian restaurant owned by one of the founders of the Ghanaian Vegetarian Society, where we had a light lunch. Later the same day we went to the Osu Children's orphanage where we donated vegan food to the orphanage's administration so they could feed the children healthy vegan food. The lady who accepted the food on the orphanage's behalf requested that we teach them how to prepare vegan food so that they can feed the children vegan food on a regular basis. After our trip to the orphanage we all went back to our respective homes and hotels to relax and prepare for the actual conference the next day. |
